More Nineteenth Century Elements in the Book of Mormon

A few more compelling peculiarities in the text of the Book of Mormon are the occurrences of the phrase “secret combinations” and the expression, “slippery.” Modern readers will likely not attach any significance to either idiom, as both would seem to spring from Nephite vernacular. But in reality, these expressions were deeply rooted in Joseph’s environment. In addition to these, The Book of Alma contains an incredible parallel with a widely circulated Presbyterian publication.
